Well where else could we go? plus aussie is the closest and would probably help us evac with help of their whole... Flock? would you call it that? well all the planes they have, America would too i should think, and Aussie = Close so the planes can refuel less often, and it would take too long to go anywhere else

Royal Australian Air Force Transport Complement:

    4 x Boeing C-17 Globemaster III
    8 x Lockheed C-130 Hercules (4 in flyable storage)
    12 x Lockheed C-130J Super Hercules

VIP Aircraft that could be used:

    2 x Boeing Business Jet
8 x Beechcraft Super King Air

Royal Australian Army CH-47D Chinooks have a ferry range of 2,252 km so theoretically could be used as well.

The US would just send C5 Galaxys and C17's

Apparently there is support coming from US, UK, India, AUS, Thailand and some other countries aswell. It should help with triage centers and such.

    Thats some really Damaged buildings.

Yeah, they are sending people from everywhere

and at Slato, US will send a shit tonne of people say they Use a lot, in truth i think they hardly even see any action! same with UK if they send anyone it will be because the Pilots want something to do. the only problem is with 100+ aircraft there will need to be a lot of fuel. coz theres the Chinooks, C-130's All the NZ airliners Probably 60% of the AUS Airliners, all the left over aircraft from the Navy and Airforce, the Navy Ship and the Cruise liners, really anything that can make the crossing in a few days or so, maybe a week, nothing longer, i think 40% would be taken by Boat 60% by Air Transport, however if more fuel doesnt come in then Countries from around the world would have to send more to aid in the Rescue, then theres the Land Veihicles to go through the Cities, Probably the Renaults? is that what they are called? and the APC's as they a most commonly used in gaming terms i cant remember what the actual name is. so in all in about a week we would use about possibly 2 times what america uses in a day? or even more. not sure

@ Krypt, they will bring supplies and stuff over. Why would the pilots needs action to fly from one place to another? And all the doctors would have to be properly trained to be able to come over here.

The US has alot of its own natural disasters and so on, I personally believe they will help Christchurch out alot. I mean, extra help is better than none, right?

Also, they will most likely bring fuel over with them. All the supplies will arrive by aircraft and will land in Wellinton, then be shipped down there. Just the emergency stuff will arrive at Chch airport.

Transport for relief staff will arrive in trucks and buses from Wellington, and planes for different countries.

Moral is, think before you speak

    @Scaredasshole xD

They would bring their own but what happens when We run out of Fuel? the pilots, well there would have to be 10 to a plane or something and the planes would be running non-stop until everyones out

Like I said, they would fly into Wellington Airport and gain fuel from there, even auckland. And obviously, the US would be shipping extra fuel over as we speak, to help compensate for all the aircraft requiring it

Got a friend in the Combat Engineers who has no idea if they will actually be able to get over because of the stuff we've had here. Good deal of stuff to do. He also said the US CE's may fly in to help with the clean up.

    75 confirmed dead.

    71 currently in the morgue.

300 missing based on earlier information, but alot of it is incorrect info or outdated info. They are re assessing this number.

Est. 50 dead still in CTV building.
May be more fatalities in Pyne Gould building.

    Overall:

This quake isnt apocalyptic. Its bad, but it could be worse. Main damages are the infrastructure & the CBD.
We have had some loss of life, but its much less than the Napier ( i think ) quake of 1931 where 250 ish fatalities occurred.
The iconic cathedral is damaged badly & some peoples homes have suffered mild to moderate damage, with few having major damage.

It will increase but the biggest worry is if they can't get basic infrastructure on it's feet it will get far worse

Dad and my friend in the CE's think it was a bad call to completely write off the CTV Building. There would have been people still alive.

they had nothing on sonar/dogs/vibrations for 12 hours. Why not call it off? Building was on fire since the quake, anyone not dead from having a building on top of them would have died from smoke inhalation.

    Two things:

A QFRS USAR team did hear slight vibrations (Not aftershocks) but were told NOT to investigate further because of risk to themselves. I know this because dad is part of the INSARAG QRFS USAR team.

Secondly, you have fallen into the media wordplay trap. You can't use SONAR outside of a body of water, this is useless for the detection of persons trapped under rubble. That's how stupid the media are. I'm not saying you are stupid but i just really hate it when the media make things sound really technical and get it very wrong.
